2017 Slate of Candidates

Below is your 2017 slate of candidates as put forward by the current Alumni Association Council. Please review the bios of the four candidates below and vote to approve the slate by logging into your Alumni Directory account. 

Ijlal Gondal

Ijlal Gondal

Ijlal Gondal graduated from the Mechanical Engineering program in 2016.  During his undergrad, he was elected and served as the VP of University Affairs on the Student Association. He was also a student ambassador, orientation leader and Co-Chair for the 2016 Graduating Class Challenge.

Ijlal is a strong believer in giving back to the community and being a responsible citizen. The opportunities provided to him on campus helped shape his personality to what it is today. His active membership in many student groups on campus helped shape the university community, and he hopes to use these experiences to represent alumni and build a stronger community. 

Shaikh Rashid

Shaikh Rashid

Shaikh Farhan Rashid graduated from the Networking and IT Security program in 2014 with a Bachelor of IT Security and a minor in E-Commerce. During his undergrad, he was involved in many student clubs including the Canadian Nuclear Society and the Generation-First Peer Mentorship, and participated in various university sponsored activities including the Student Leadership Summit.

After graduating, Shaikh pursued a career in IT Security, working as a security researcher in the energy sector. His research led him to the world of data science and Big Data startups, where he is now working in engineering and technology consulting.

Shaikh wants to serve on the Alumni Association Council in order to give back to the university. By serving on the council, he hopes to extend the community of active alumni members and increase participation at alumni networking events.  

Tameka Bailey

Tameka Bailey

Tameka Bailey graduated in 2015 with an Honours B.A. in Criminology and Justice and a minor in Legal Studies. She was on the President's List and valued every moment spent as an undergraduate student.

She volunteered as a Wellness Assistant with Carea Community Health Centre in Oshawa and was a Social Media Coordinator with Project: Restore FIBI. Tameka also worked as a Senior Archivist with Decimal Lab, also known as the Digital Culture and Media Lab. Studying and working in such a positive environment not only allowed her pride to shine through, but also encouraged her to uphold university spirit. She is currently a first-year graduate student at Carleton University pursuing a Master of Infrastructure and International Security.

As a recent graduate, Tameka hopes to provide relevant input on current student affairs and alumni matters. Furthermore, she has maintained networks created while attending university and looks forward to using these to the advantage of the Alumni Association.

William Lee

William Lee

William is a recent graduate from the faculty of Business and Information Technology. During his time at the university, he had the opportunity to be a part of several organizations including: the Business and IT Society, Finance Society, Marketing Association as well as LANWAR.

William credits the extra curriculars he participated in and the mentorship he received from his professors for his positive university experience. He hopes to bring this passion to the alumni community through his experiences in budgeting and event planning.
