Career Centre expands services to alumni

Whether you are looking for a job, wondering what to do next, need help perfecting a resume, creating the best LinkedIn profile or applying for graduate studies, or just want some advice, the Career Centre can help.

Their recently expanded service model now allows alumni to have unlimited access to the top-quality services offered, an increase from their previous two year limit. This means that alumni from every graduating class have access at any time; for free. “We’re proud of our alumni, and we are pleased to support them in their career endeavours beyond their time at UOIT,” said Monica Jain, Manager, Career Centre.  “Our goal in expanding access to the services is to support alumni in developing their unique path and achieving their career goals.”

The Career Centre offers several online resources, flexible advising options including consultation through email, phone, in person appointments, and even appointments via Skype, as well as ongoing employer events which are free for alumni to attend. With the portal available 24-7, alumni have access to resources, to book appointments, learn about upcoming events and access job postings at their leisure.

You can access the portal by using your MyCampus ID and password. If forgotten, accounts can have their passwords reset or reactivated by contacting IT Services at 905-721-8668 x 3333.

In addition to alumni seeking employment, the centre is also interested in supporting alumni employers seeking employees.  “Alumni represent key partners in helping students pursue their passions beyond UOIT,” said Monica.

The Alumni office, in consultation with the Career Centre, will be conducting a survey about the needs of alumni.  Based on the responses, the centre will be looking at how its existing services and programming supports these needs or ways to enhance or create programming/services to address the identified needs.
